The importance of Moral values in a student’s life
As the saying goes “All the things that make the character
of an individual great, comes from the moral values he possesses. Those are the
things that give an individual, strength, vision, integrity, courage and
understanding of how to behave towards others” therefore Honesty, Hard Work, Respect,
Compassion, Forgiveness, Sacrifice and athithi –seva are the key values that
form the base of Indian culture.
It would be appropriate to say that moral values are slowly
disappearing from our lives. Those days are long gone when we were keen to help
our neighbours or any person with difficulty or the needy of our society.Today
if a person meets any serious accident, before he is taken to the hospital his
luggage is robbed.
Moral values are the basic of a good human and give joy. Although
this intensity of joy cannot be measured it sure can be felt with a sense of
relief and contentment. These should beinstilled in a student’s life to ensure
that he is ready to face the harsh realities of life.
Moral values are twice blessed as Shakespeare says he who
gives and he who receives. They give immense pleasure to those who exercise
them and those for whom exercised, helping a blind man to cross the road,
giving food to a hungry, consoling a baby or sharing one’s grief, are
invaluable services.
At G.D. Goenka ,
Greater Noida Morals values are part and parcel of life. Students as young as
Primary classes go and outreach Community in various ways, where they are
distributing books or toys or everyday items. From class pre primary specific
periods are allocated in their timetable for Value Skills. So much so even the
text books have a separate question based on Value Added Skills, where the
young mind has to show an understanding of a moral read in a story. Students of
early classes are taught table manners and etiquette.Discipline and manners are
a routine and students follow these without any doubt. It has become second
Nature. Sometimes the morning assembly is taken up to instill one or the other
good habit forming exercise. The school has a policy of zero tolerance to
Bullies.
At G. D. Goenka we certainly believe that MANNERS MAKE A MAN, hence no
opportunity is lost in showing your members the true and the only way to being
a good Human being. The students put these values in practice for mutual
understanding, by paying respect to the elders, showing politeness to the opposite
gender, helping the needy, being gentle, avoid abuse language and honour the
Goenkan policy that Morals, manners, value skills are all part of a good
education which they get at GD Goenka Greater Noida.
